Claim to Fame: In the race to determine their zodiac ranking, the Tiger used his sheer strength to swim across the strong currents of the river bank. His determination and powerful strength led him to rank 3rd in the Zodiac. What is it about the year of the Tiger that lead some people afraid to have children?

Personality
People born in the year of the Tiger are described as intense and hard to resist. They find excitement and venture where others fear to tread. The friends of Tiger people will both admire them and feel isolated by their adventurous nature. Tigers may also come into conflict with authoritative figures such as elders. Sometimes those born in the year of the Tiger make rash decisions due to their inability to take things slowly.

Elements
The Tiger is associated with the Wood element. People born in the year of the Tiger are also seen as fierce — some people avoid having children in the year of the Tiger in case they should have a daughter, whose Tiger personality might led some to call her “the old tiger lady” (the equivalent to the West’s term “the old dragon lady.”) 2010 will be the year of the Metal Tiger, which in result might be a year of conflict for Wood Tigers since Metal overrides Wood. Fire Tigers should be able to take it easy as Fire overcomes Metal, and Water Tigers might feel at also feel at ease since Metal generates Water. Earth Tigers might feel a little uncomfortable because Metal is going to be on top of Earth instead of the other way around.

Tomorrow: The powerful tiger who made it to 3rd place by sheer strength!

*Because the Chinese calendar runs on lunar cycles, each year starts and ends on a different date. Therefore, if you were born in January or early February, your zodiac animal might be different that you had originally thought. Fortunately there are tables and websites that will help you find out exactly which one you are!

**Since the zodiac animals also are associated with certain months and seasons, one can have an “inner” zodiac animal. For example, I was born in the year of the Ox (1985), but I was born in the Pig’s month (November). So the Pig is my inner zodiac animal. You can further break this down by the exact hour you were born, which gives you your “secret” animal.
