Claim to Fame: In the race to determine their zodiac ranking, the Rabbit crossed the dangerous river bank by hopping from stone to stone. About halfway through, the Rabbit slipped and fell into the river! Luckily, he managed to grab onto a passing log and, with the help of a gust of wind, made it safely to the other side of the river bank (phew!)

Personality
Rabbit people are seen as artistic and kind. They aim to please and rarely lose their temper. Graceful and studious, Rabbits have an eye for detail and like things to be arranged in a certain way. They make good friends because they will sincerely listen to you and are not easily angered. People born in the year of the Rabbits are seen as having good luck financially, and although they are not prone to gambling, their luck would be uncanny. Their downside is that they are perhaps too conservative and cautious. They also love gossip but they take care in sparing one’s feelings.

Elements
Rabbits are attributed with the Wood element. Since 2011 will be the year of the Metal Rabbit, Wood and Fire Rabbits are not going to have it easy as Metal destroys Wood. The year’s element also blocks Fire’s natural tendency to overcome Metal. Earth and Water Rabbits might enjoy a year of luck in intellectual growth and work, since both compliment Metal.

Tomorrow: Excuses, excuses, excuses…why the Dragon didn’t make it to first place!

*Because the Chinese calendar runs on lunar cycles, each year starts and ends on a different date. Therefore, if you were born in January or early February, your zodiac animal might be different that you had originally thought. Fortunately there are tables and websites that will help you find out exactly which one you are!

**Since the zodiac animals also are associated with certain months and seasons, one can have an “inner” zodiac animal. For example, I was born in the year of the Ox (1985), but I was born in the Pig’s month (November). So the Pig is my inner zodiac animal. You can further break this down by the exact hour you were born, which gives you your “secret” animal.

Hey, I didn’t know about the “inner” zodiac animal. I was born in the year of the Dog (can’t wait for that one!), but apparently the Rabbit is my inner animal. :D This sums me up surprisingly well. Interesting.
