I don’t really care for the Pirates series, but my boyfriend went and saw the supposedly “last” movie of the series. Here’s what he had to say.
Let’s break the movie into fourths:
1/4 was spent getting Calypso freed from Pirate Magic. Why? I’m not really sure. Supposedly she was supposed to help the cast out, but all she did was turn into crabs, and then made an enormous maelstrom, which didn’t seem to help anybody.
2/4 of the movie was of various individuals bartering. This usually involved the following:
- Person A wants something from Person B and makes an offer.
- Person B sounds reserved about the offer and demands something outrageous.
- Various onlookers respond with amazed sounds.
- Person A agrees.
- Person B and various onlookers think this to be a bad idea.
- Ultimately, the person that everyone thinks is getting ripped off actually ends up on top.
1/4 of the movie contained some interesting fight sequences with little explanation and mass confusion.
Also, Orlando Bloom as the Captain of the Flying Dutchmen caused a synchronized “LAME” to come out of me and my friend’s mouth. They cannot make him look cool in a black blouse and headband.
In conclusion, this movie made you hate the British.
